Welcome to the I am EM-Powered Program and Student Challenge. This program is fully funded by PSEG Long Island and free to Long Island and Rockway educators and students. It has been designed for grades 4 – 8. This program includes three lessons incorporated into an educator and student guide, a Tips Page on “How to Create a Public Service Announcement” and a Student Video PSA Challenge. These lessons are cross-curricular and can be effectively used in Science, Social Studies and ELA classes. This past year technology educators have embraced the curriculum and shared it across the grades.
We are excited to work with you and your students. They will learn about energy efficiency, protecting the environment and they will inspire others to do the same.
We have provided a Student Guide that can be downloaded from the program website. These resources can be posted on your district’s Learning Management System and students can continue (or begin) their work from home. Whether you are just getting started with the program or well on your way, we have compiled some tips to help you implement the lessons in any setting.
Distance Learning – We have created a Distance Learning Guide to assist you with integration.
At the end of the project, you will select the three best Public Service Announcement Videos (PSAs) from each of your participating classes and submit them to our Student Challenge.
- Participating schools throughout Long Island and the Rockaways are eligible to enter the challenge.
- PSA Videos must be submitted by April 2, 2021.
- Winning teams will be announced by April 22.2021.
- There will be 10 Winning teams. Winning teams, their class, and the teacher will all receive exciting prizes from PSEG Long Island.
